How to Find Out Who (or What) Is Accessing Your Gmail

If you’re concerned that someone may be accessing your Gmail account without your permission, there are a few things you can do to check and secure your account. Here are some steps you can take to find out who or what is accessing your Gmail:
Step 1: Check your Recent Activity Google keeps track of your recent account activity, including the IP addresses and devices used to access your account. To view your recent activity, scroll to the bottom of your Gmail inbox and click on the “Details” link located next to “Last account activity.”
Step 2: Review the Activity Log Once you click on “Details,” a pop-up window will appear showing you the activity log for your account. This log shows you the dates and times of recent access, the IP addresses used to access your account, and the type of device used to access it. If you see any suspicious activity or unfamiliar IP addresses, you can take steps to secure your account by changing your password and enabling two-factor authentication.
Step 3: Check Connected Apps & Sites If you’ve given third-party apps access to your Gmail account in the past, you can review and revoke access to these apps by going to your Google Account settings. From there, click on “Security” and then “Third-party apps with account access.” You can view the apps that have access to your account and revoke access for any apps that you no longer use or trust.
Step 4: Enable Two-Factor Authentication Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a verification code in addition to your password when logging in from an unfamiliar device or location. To enable two-factor authentication for your Gmail account, go to your Google Account settings, click on “Security,” and then “2-Step Verification.” Follow the prompts to set up two-factor authentication for your account.
By following these steps, you can monitor and secure your Gmail account, and take steps to prevent unauthorized access. It’s important to regularly check your account activity and take action if you notice any suspicious activity or unauthorized access.
